If u follow the bible? 1 cor11: 3-11. I aways see woman pray with there head not covered. It will tell u why and it has nothing to do with beeing created by men that r sexiest. Just when u pray to God. Woman think or I use to think woman think they had to be covered all the time, not true only when they pray to God.

God didn't write Corinthians. A guy named Paul did. Paul was a man of his time, and a lot of what we find in Paul's books deal with his popular culture. They are not decrees from God. If you want to know God, read the words of Jesus - not Paul and not Moses.

I've been taught that that verse is speaking of the length of your hair, not head coverings.

Many of my Mennonite, Brethren and other friends wear headcoverings. So do a few Pentecostals I know. And many women still wear hats to church, especially the older ones. However, most people view headcoverings as mere legalism, or say that a woman's hair is her covering. Others argue that it's a doctrine from Paul, and not from Christ. Still others say that verses like that are merely products of the time in which they were written, and are not applicable today.

Well, 1 Corinthians was written by Paul. 1%26amp;2Corinthians were letters to the Corinthians from Paul -Not a letter to all modern Christians from GOD.

And Paul was incredibly resentful of women. (read: celibate)

Your absolutely right.. people have twisted the bible to suit their own needs...also too afraid of what others will think in a society that does not cover their hair. I have often wondered this myself. I consider myself to be a Christian woman...yet do not cover my hair...and yes it has bothered me reading this verse.

Year ago most Christian women wore head-coverings (hat, veil, scarf). You can read any Bible commentary that was written over fifty years ago, and they would ALL say that the women's head needs a covering. Read the early church father's writings, the reformation fathers they all agree. What has happen to change everyone opinion, is it honest exegesis, or is it feminism's impact on the church?

If you read just a little futher, you will see that Paul said this was a custom, and not something that people should contend with (or judge) one another over.

1 Corinthians 11:16

But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
